About the event
Hood Still Life Pt. 2 is my virtual solo exhibition that reimagines the tradition of still life through a bold urban lens. The artwork uses symbolism and visual metaphor to reflect the richness, complexity, and everyday poetry of the African American culture I grew up in Houston—a culture that remains largely absent from museum walls and art history conversations today. This show represents a turning point in my creative journey, transforming years of hesitation into intentional expression. It also bridges the space between traditional art and digital art, inviting guests to experience how identity and heritage can be honored across mediums while proving that underrepresented stories deserve thoughtful composition, serious reflection, and a rightful place in galleries.
